Schools and Craft Centers that offer basketry and fiber instruction in the form of seminars, conferences, workshops, classes, internships, Artists-in-residence and fiber degree progams.

Arrowmont
Gatlinburg, TN. One of the best craft schools in the country offers year round workshops and conferences on subjects including basketry.

Art League School, Fiber
Alexandria, VA. Full term weaving and surface design classes and shorter workshops in a wide variety of fiber techniques are offered.

The Basketry School
Seattle, WA. Offers a variety of basketry workshops. Hosts a basketry weekend of workshops.

Brookfield Craft Center
Arts and crafts school in Brookfield, CT offers a varied hands on workshop program providing high quality education for all ages and interest levels. Visiting faculty provide instruction in a variety of media, including basketry.

Canberra School of Arts Textiles
Institute of the Arts, Canberra School at The Australian National University. Undergraduate, graduate and workshops in fiber.

Centre des Metiers d'art en Construction Textile
Located in Montreal, Canada, this school offers individual programs or a college degree.

Certificate Program in California Indian Basketry
D-Q University in Davis, CA offers a for-credit program in their Native American Fine Arts program.

Located on Whidby Island, WA, they offer a Fiber Forum event for fiber enthusiasts the third week of each September and individual workshops throughout the year.

Oxford, OH. CraftSummer is a series of week long, hands on, workshops taught at Miami University by local, regional and nationally known artists.

Cranbrook Academy of Art
Bloomfield Hills, MI. A graduate school. The Academy accepts only full-time students who have earned a bachelors degree. Fiber is one of the areas of concentration.

Eliot School of Fine and Applied Arts
Community based school based in Jamaica Plain, MA offers basketry and seatweaving instruction among its choices of workshops.

School of Arts and Crafts located in mid-coast Maine on Deer Isle. Offers workshops and intensive sessions in a variety of crafts, including fiber/basketry.

Mendocino Art Center
An educational, exhibition and resource center for the visual and performing arts located 150 miles north of San Francisco in the quiet coastal village of Mendocino, California. Teaching opportunities are available in addition to the chance to learn basketweaving or other fiber arts.

Quail Botanical Gardens
San Diego, CA. Home of a large collection of bamboo species along with a large variety of other plants used in basketry. Their calendar of events regularly offers workshops in pine needle, gourd and seaweed basketry.

Rhode Island School of Design
Providence, RI. A degree granting school of design. The Department of Textiles offers a broad-based education in many aspects of design, fiber and pattern.

Sievers School of Fiber Art
Fiber school in Washington Island, Wisconsin regularly offers basketry workshops.

Southwestern Community College
The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) unveiled November 13, 2006 that an Associate in Fine Arts program focusing on Native American art is to be offered in collaboration with Southwestern Community College The program is to be offered at the Oconaluftee Institute for Cultural Arts (OICA) in Cherokee. The studio arts curriculum offerings will include both contemporary and traditional Cherokee arts such as basketry/weaving, pottery, beadwork, mask making, sculpture, woodcarving, and stone carving.

Thousand Islands Craft School
Adult, children, young adult and Elderhostel classes and programs in basketry are offered at this Clayton, NY craft center.

University of Alaska Southeast
Northwest Coast Art Certificate Program includes a Basketry emphasis option on its Sitka, Ketchikan or Juneau campuses.

Vissinggaard
