In a recent Email Brian wrote "I've been a basketmaker for 10 or 12 years now, I'm self taught, just started by playing with vines and things in my yard. One thing led to another, I became hooked and now I weave non traditional baskets using old, large honeysuckle vines as frames and weave with a variety of natural ingredients, including cattails, bulrushes, virginia creeper, yucca, seagrass and reed. A large part of creating a basket is the beginning gathering stage, finding just the right vine for the vessel it wants to become. I live near the ocean in New Jersey, there's lot's of wild things around. "
