Susi Nuss has been a basketmaker since 1979. Professional Experience: Susi's
own work is primarily traditional Black Ash woodsplint basketry. Her baskets are all based
solidly on 19th century New England tradition. She has taught classes in Black Ash
woodsplint basketry at craft centers, basketry festivals and conferences. Her baskets
have been featured in juried museum shows around the United States and in Canada. She
served as Basketry Guild Liaison for The News Basket, published by Press de
LaPlantz, Inc. Her work has been pictured in books such as Twill Basketry by
Shereen LaPlantz, Baskets from Nature's Bounty Susi has been a featured artist numerous times in Early American Life magazine's Directory of Traditional Crafts. Her work is included in many private collections and in the permanent collection of Art Complex Museum in Duxbury, Massachusetts. She is a current member of Natural Fibers Group, Northeast Basketmakers Guild and the National Basketry Organization. She was one of the five original founders of Northeast Basketmakers Guild at its inception in 1985 and is a past president of that organization. She has been a Founding Member of the National Basketry Organization. Education: Susi holds a B.S. in Interior Design from the University of Connecticut, Storrs and a Certificate in Web Design from Middlesex Community College.
